A look inside Fort Wars
Fort Wars is a real-time strategy game you play with one thumb. Tap a fort to select it, tap an enemy building to send your troops marching down the roads, and capture it by arriving with more soldiers than it can hold. That is the whole control scheme - the depth comes from where you commit and when.
Matches run one to three minutes, so a whole war fits into a coffee break. It is free, plays completely offline, and has no ads, no in-app purchases and no energy timers.
How a match plays
Combat is simple arithmetic: the larger force wins and loses whatever the defender had, and ties go to the defender. Winning is about reading the board - knowing which building to feed, which to leave, and the moment your opponent has over-extended.
Tap to select. Pick one of your buildings, or drag across several to send everything at once.
Tap to attack. Choose a target and your troops march along the roads towards it.
Outnumber to capture. Arrive with more soldiers than the defenders and the building flips to your colour.
Three buildings, three tradeoffs
Every building is a decision about tempo versus safety.
Tower - the all-rounder. Trains at a steady rate and holds a medium garrison. It is your starting building and the only one you can upgrade.
Camp - the economy. Trains twice as fast but holds far fewer troops, so you have to keep emptying it towards the front.
Fort - the wall. Trains slowest but holds the most and cuts incoming attacks to 60%. Strong, but it needs constant investment.
300 levels across 8 chapters
The campaign runs from the gentle Green Valley through to the sprawling fortress islands of the finale, The Last Stand. Every level can be played on three difficulties and awards up to three stars: one for the win, one for beating par time, and one for finishing without losing a single building.
Relaxed. Loses to steady play, always - a good place to learn the systems.
Standard. A satisfying march of wins for players who know what they are doing.
Ruthless. Punishes greed and over-extension, and wins about half its matches against good play.

Colourblind-safe. A five-colour palette chosen so every side stays distinguishable.
Reduced motion. Turn animations down for a calmer board, with independent audio toggles.
